Reindeer

It's been a crazy week with snow days and delays openings! Today we finally got back in the swing of things. We have read quite a number of holiday themed books to get us in the winter and holiday spirit but today we read "Olive the Other Reindeer". The story about a dog named Olive who thinks she's supposed to help guide a sleigh tonight!  Afterwards we made our own reindeer! This activity helped reinforce listening comprehension, color recognition, directional concepts (top, bottom, middle/center), fine motor control, direction following, and number concepts.

First we glued on our reindeer's eyes and nose...

...then we added a little stuffing....

...and finally tied up their reigns (don't forget the bell!), glued on their antlers, and stood back and admired our work!

Later we practiced our colors, color sight words, and matching to build snowmen!
