Let us Melt The Snow!

Do you want to build a snowman?

We've certainly had our fair share of snow this winter! To make the most of it and learn a little something about the concepts of hot and cold, we did a fun experiment together today! First we read the classic book "The Snowman Storybook" and then got busy working on our snowmen. We built a few different snowmen all with the same goal in mind. We wanted to melt each one! We talked about how different seasons bring cold and hot weather and what would happen if we some how put a snowman outside in July. We made predictions on what would happen if we squirted hot water on our mini snowmen. We even added some food coloring to really watch how the warm water spread throughout the snowman!

This was a great activity for making predictions, during inferences, building fine motor control and hand strength, body parts, and following directions.
