Fire Breathing Dragons
During our Social Intelligence lessons today we spoke about the feeling of being angry. We talked about a few coping mechanisms we could use when we become angry. The most popular is to take a deep breath. The key to calming down is the exhale, so in order to help us exhale a little longer we made our own fire breathing dragons! When we become angry we can pretending we are fire breathing dragons and take a deep breath and let it go. Our dragons helped us understanding ourselves as well as build our fine motor control (check out those grips!), be creative, and follow directions.

The First Thanksgiving Poem
The First Thanksgiving Poem by Unknown
Today we read "The First Thanksgiving Poem" and made our own version of the Thanksgiving bracelet. Ours was a necklace that helped us with our colors, the concept of "through" ("put red 'through' brown"), fine motor, and following directions!

The Littlest Pilgrim
Today we read The Littlest Pilgrim by Brandi Dougherty. A fun Thanksgiving about the smallest pilgrim who only wanted to help all of those around here but was told she was too small. In the end she made friends with a sweet Native American that was just as small as she was. You're never too small to make new friends!
This activity helped us build our listening skills, comprehension, prediction skills, shape recognition, following directions, and fine motor control.
