4th of July Shades

Today we continued our 4th of July Theme and made some fun glasses for the Holiday!

Flags for the Fourth

Today we talked about the letter F and the sounds it makes. We used our Fingers to make a Flag Full of Festive Fourth of July Fun. The project also helped us with our fine motor control, following verbal directions, color identification, counting, and letter sounds. We used paper, paint, and tissue paper to create our flags. I'm Back!!

I'm so excited to be able to say that I will be teaching our school's younger bunch again during our summer school program! Since my last post I taught third grade for two years, became the Director of Marketing for our private school, and had a baby girl. I'm looking forward to teaching and being creative this summer!

With the Summer Olympics coming up, the Copa America Tournament, and the 4th of July, I decided to make the summer classroom theme all about Red, White, & Blue. Here are a few photos of the classroom. I can't wait to get teaching on Monday.

200th Birthday of the Star Spangled Banner

New Beginnings!

Well, it's a new year which means change is in the air! It saddens me to say goodbye to my little group but also fills me with pride as a see them moving up to Kindergarten. With a new year comes a new challenge for me.  This year I will be teaching a group of 3rd/4th graders! Since I love blogging and documenting my classes' educational adventures it was my hope to continue doing just that. Check it out and subscribe to  Teach Them To Fly II.

Happy Birthday Moira!

Today was our last day of summer school, but to cheer us up we celebrated our friend's birthday! Happy Birthday Moira! 

Thanks for an amazing summer session! See you in a few weeks when you're officially big Kindergartners!

Happy Birthday Miss Sarah

It's Miss Sarah's Birthday! Our helper and Teacher Assistant for the summer program is having a birthday! To celebrate we got to make cupcakes. We practiced our measuring skills, following directions (recipe), fine motor strength and control, and sequencing skills. And most importantly, we had fun!
