Making Valentine's Bags

We needed a place to put all of our Valentine's Day love! Today we made Valentine Bags to receive our Valentines in when we celebrate on Tuesday. We made our own Valentine Bag Person!

We made our Valentine Bag Person from a gift bag, two pipe cleaners, two pompoms, a heart and some glue!

Happy Valentine's Day Mom and Dad!

With the threat of the ninth snow storm of the season, we decided to celebrate some parts of Valentine's Day early. (We will still celebrate on Tuesday when we get back). Over the last week or so we have been working on presents for our parents, our favorite Valentines! First we took some fun photos in our photobooth (if you missed it, check out it!) and then made a fun envelope for our cards.

Dr. Charles Drew

Today we continued with our Black History Month Unit and learned more about Dr. Charles Drew. Dr. Drew researched and developed new techniques for storing blood and therefore developed the large scale blood bank.
We talked about why blood is important to our bodies and how a doctor would take some of our blood if we donated it. We then made our own (pretend of course) vial of blood! Thank you Dr. Drew!

A great fine motor activity!

Where on Earth Do We Go to School?

With the Olympic games currently going on in what seems like the other side of the world, we thought today would be a great time to talk about where we are in the big picture! We worked our way out from our school to the world, and back. We also spent some time talking about our country's flag. We discussed the colors, shapes, and number of stars and strips that make it unique to our county. We talked about our school, the town that it is in, the county it is in, the state it is in, the country it is in, and what planet our country is on. We put our "Global Community" in order from biggest to smallest.

Check it out!
