There Was An Old Lady That Swallowed a Bell

To continue with our seasoned traditions we read There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell today! These are some of our favorite stories and we always have a good time recreating the stories. This time the Old Lady resembled a Holiday Elf and what better way to get into the Holiday spirit! 

This activity helped us with story sequencing, listening skills, fine motor control, and following directions.

Happy Thanksgiving Turkeys

Happy Thanksgiving! Today we practiced being thankful as we celebrated Thanksgiving before our long Holiday weekend. In celebration of the holiday we made one last turkey! Our paperbag turkeys helped reinforce our shape skills, color identification skills, fine motor skills, and ability to follow directions. They turned out adorable and will make a perfect centerpiece ;)!

First we glued our circle eyes and triangle/diamond beak!

Next we stuffed our turkeys!

Then it was time for his bow tie.

Add tissue feathers and a balloon and it's all done!

Fire Breathing Dragons

During our Social Intelligence lessons today we spoke about the feeling of being angry. We talked about a few coping mechanisms we could use when we become angry. The most popular is to take a deep breath. The key to calming down is the exhale, so in order to help us exhale a little longer we made our own fire breathing dragons! When we become angry we can pretending we are fire breathing dragons and take a deep breath and let it go. Our dragons helped us understanding ourselves as well as build our fine motor control (check out those grips!), be creative, and follow directions.
