Fireworks in Goop & a Happy Birthday to our Friend!

What a great day! We worked hard, celebrated birthdays, and even played with "fireworks" in celebration for the 4th of July! Ok, not real  fireworks, but just as fun! We used cornstarch and water to make Goop and then as an added sensory bonus we added Poprocks! The Poprocks popped and fizzed just like fireworks do in the night sky on the 4th! We used the opportunity to talk about our country again, work on letter sounds (P and F), sensory processing, and following directions.

Happy Birthday! Our classmate and his sister celebrated a great birthday today! We enjoyed a picnic with a sweet surprise!

Flip Flops and Number Concepts

Today we got creative and decorated our own set of flip flops! We talked more about the "F" sound that is similar to  that sound in "firefly". We also worked on color identification, number concepts (what comes before, what comes after), sequencing, fine motor control, and following directions when we added our "toe prints" to our flip flops!

Where We Live-America

With our Nation's birthday just around the corner we thought it would be a great time to talk about the large community in which we live! Many of our friends know either the town or state they live in, but we are working on understanding that we are all apart of a country as well! We talked about the colors of the flag, as well as the different shapes (rectangles, stars), and revisited the differences between stripes and solids. Afterwards we made our own variation, and personalized symbol of our nation.

To go along with our 4th of July theme; two of our friends were dressed the part for sure!
