Flip Flops and Number Concepts

Today we got creative and decorated our own set of flip flops! We talked more about the "F" sound that is similar to  that sound in "firefly". We also worked on color identification, number concepts (what comes before, what comes after), sequencing, fine motor control, and following directions when we added our "toe prints" to our flip flops!

Where We Live-America

With our Nation's birthday just around the corner we thought it would be a great time to talk about the large community in which we live! Many of our friends know either the town or state they live in, but we are working on understanding that we are all apart of a country as well! We talked about the colors of the flag, as well as the different shapes (rectangles, stars), and revisited the differences between stripes and solids. Afterwards we made our own variation, and personalized symbol of our nation.

To go along with our 4th of July theme; two of our friends were dressed the part for sure!

F is for Firefly...and our Fireflies Shine!

We had a full second day of summer session today! Yesterday we introduced our two new vocabulary words, Shine & Reflect. We talked about the different things that shine and one of our favorite ones was a firefly! So today we made our very own fireflies. This activity focused on skills such as color identification, fine motor control, shape identification, sequencing, letter sounds (S & F), and following directions. Check out our awesome fireflies!

Summer Session 2013-Updated!

It's the beginning of Summer Session! Welcome back to our old friends and a warm welcome to our new ones! Today we spent some time working with 4th of July marshmallows. We worked on counting, stacking, graphing, color identification, small, medium, and large, as well as fine motor control and following directions! We will continue to work on these skills, as well as many others, throughout the summer!

We played a number of games to get to know our friends a little better. We even got to play on the playground.

As we wait for consent forms to be returned, we can share with you our welcome-to-the-classroom names on the door (footprints through the sand!). Check back soon for photos of our activities!
