Rainy Day Posters

To continue our mini unit on weather we had a great time talking about rain and clouds today. Afterwards we   continued working with our fine motor control to make our rainy-day posters! We have some super strong fingers these days, and even better fine motor control!

Making Our Own Clouds

To continue with our mini-weather unit we made our very own clouds! We talked about safety and how important it is to listen to a teacher and follow directions when doing any experiment. We had our own squares to stand on as we "cooked up" our clouds.

We used Ivory Soap to grow our own clouds in the microwave. Before we started we used our five senses to discover that our chunks were made of soap. We then put the soap in the microwave and Mrs. Burns hit start. We watched our clouds grow into something that could only be described as fluffy!

We moved our bulletin board of our pet clouds (they needed to go for a walk after all!) Check out our last experiment and how we made pet clouds by clicking here

Weather and Pet Clouds

Today we talked about weather and clouds. We did a fun activity that demonstrated what happens to clouds before it rains. As the cloud gathers moisture (in our case, from the eye dropper) eventually it releases the raindrops into the air and we get rain! We used an eye dropper to drip blue water down our clouds. This part of the activity let us use our fine motor control and pincer fingers to see what could happen!

Eventually the "cloud" filled with moisture from the eye dropper and it looked like it was raining in our jar!

After our experiment we continued working on our fine motor control, letter sounds, weather science, and following directions. We made our own Pet Clouds!

Check out our Pet Clouds!
