Lucky Charms and Green Peppers

We had a visitor today and boy did we have a blast! We have really been working on our sorting, graphing, counting, patterns, and the comparison vocabulary (more of, less of, least of, most of) and it paid off in today's lesson! In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day we used Lucky Charms to do our math activity and when we were finished we had the opportunity to enjoy a sweet tasty treat! Later we made used a green pepper as a stamp to make shamrocks! We talked about what happens when yellow and blue paint are mixed (it makes GREEN!).

Rainbows

Today we welcomed one of our classmates back from his trip. We really wanted to include him in our Cat in the Hat poster! Check it out! (original Cat in the Hat blogpost)

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner! Today we made rainbows to attract the sneaky leprechauns. Our rainbows helped us work on number recognition, number sequencing (both froward and backward), comparison vocabulary, fine motor control, following directions, color recognition, etc..

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the blog (under resource pages) to see the inspiration behind this project and how you can also make your own rainbow!

Educators:
For other grade levels you could turn this into a measuring activity. Students could measure starting with 12 inches and going down an inch at a time for each color.

Snow Globes....(in March....)

We have been waiting all winter to do this project! It's March, we know, but we finally have a little snow on the ground. We made ourselves into snow globes and worked on adjectives while doing so. We used descriptive language to define snow! Some of us even hand wrote our own, the others dictated to our teachers.
